I am a fashion writer who works from home and often find myself stuck between the division of comfort and style. When my alarm goes off each morning and my feet hit the cold bedroom floor (before I slide my UGG slippers on of course) I have a decision to make. Do I want to spend my day writing about fashion while wearing sweatpants? How will my writing inspire people’s outfits when I’m not putting any thought into my workwear? I’ve decided to find a happy medium. I’m not realistically going to put on a full face of makeup and kitten heels to work from my bedroom, but I will put on 2022’s loungewear trends

The days of sweatpants being considered sloppy are long gone. When I’m shopping for loungewear, I look for styles that are just as easy to dress up and wear out of the house as they are to wear when chilling inside. If a set feels too casual to step out in, a slicked bun with gold hoops will take the look from couch to coffee shop.

This year, I am excited to incorporate new shapes and textures into my loungewear. Flared leggings and sweatpants have officially taken over as the ultimate cozy-cool silhouette, and something about the curve of the pants makes them look just a little more dressed-up than your go-to joggers. Speaking of making things more formal, designers are dressing up sweatshirts with logos (and even some rhinestone accents). An old-school Gap logo sweatshirt is sure to be this season’s It item, especially with Kanye’s brand collab soon to come.

If Kanye’s antics aren’t doing it for you, queen Kim Kardashian is still putting out the coziest SKIMS loungewear. Slip into a fuzzy set and layer on a fleece to give major après ski vibes (even if it is just in your own apartment). Whatever direction you go, these loungewear trends will keep you comfortable and fashionable. What more could you possibly want?

Flare leggings skyrocketed in popularity after Emma Chamberlin posted a picture wearing them. If you didn’t have an old pair of yoga pants available to immediately jump on the trend, chances are you had to wait for retailers to get on board before buying a pair.

High Waisted Crossover Super Flare Legging

These high waisted crossover leggings from Aerie come in long, short and regular lengths in sizes XXS-XXL so you’ll be able to get the perfect fit. You can start by getting a classic black pair—and if you’re feeling adventurous, get a party pant option in bright red or houndstooth.

Logomania has survived the test of time and is now being broadcasted to us in the form of casual logo hoodies. A logo hoodie is a great way to show some brand love while being relatively low-key about it. They look best when worn with matching sweats or under a blazer for special occasions. Since most brands have a version of the logo hoodie, you can find them at a wide range of price points. It doesn’t matter whether you’re repping Gap or Radarte, you’ll look cool.

Gap Arch Logo Hoodie

The Gap logo hoodie is a nostalgic heritage piece from the brand. Maybe you had killer street style on the playground and would rock a logo hoodie at recess, or maybe you are just now considering a logo hoodie because of the Yeezy x Gap collab. Either way, Gap is cool again.

A matching set is always cute, and a matching fuzzy set takes the look to a new level. There are so many fuzzy loungewear options available that you could truly build your whole wardrobe around the material. Tank tops, leggings, flare pants, zip ups and robes are just a few of the many cozy options, and each of these pieces can be worn individually or added to any outfit as a textured accent piece. Mix and match colors or keep things monochrome for a sleeker look.

Cozy Knit Tank

While lots of brands now offer fuzzy loungewear, SKIMS is undoubtedly the originator of the trend. This fuzzy tank top comes in nine colors and runs in sizes XXS-5X. Complete the look with the matching fuzzy joggers or shorts.

The last time I was this excited about a track pants was when Sue Sylvester (legend) rocked hers on Glee. Old-school track pants with a stripe down the side look sporty chic, but this season, a slightly more trouser-esque style elevates the look so you can wear them with blazers, blouses and the works. Just as comfortable, but a bit more put-together.

The Edge Trouser

If you’re looking for the perfect black loungewear pant that doubles as workwear, The Edge Trouser has your back. Bonus points for the cinched waist and cargo pockets on the sides!

If you’ve been feeling uninspired by the typical hoodie options, switch over to full-on fleece. A fleece jacket will make you look like you’ve just stepped off of a ski slope and into a trendy Aspen bar. You can jump into the outdoorsy “gorpcore” aesthetic and get a fleece from a recreation brand like The North Face, or opt for something a little girlier from Free People. Fleece is super warm, so you’ll be putting your money towards function and fashion.

Fall To Rise Fleece Quarter Zip

This quarter zip fleece by Free People Movement comes in three colors—and I’m honestly considering getting all of them. I love that the jacket has huge pockets for hands-free convenience, plus the contrasting trim color keeps the oversized look from feeling schleppy.
