Attention, ZAIA! The KAIA x Wear CASA collection is here to elevate your style with exclusive, must-have pieces!
Rising P-pop girl group KAIA has taken their fashion game to a new level by collaborating with renowned Filipino designer Chynna Mamawal.
KAIA members Angela, Alexa, Charice, Charlotte, and Sophia introduced their limited-edition merchandise collection through a runway fashion show on Tuesday, August 27. Each of the P-pop idols showcased stunning outfits designed by Mamawal.
Mamawal, known for her work in couture and elegant design, said that she aimed to offer versatile fashion choices in this particular collection. For this collaboration, she wanted the pieces to mainly blend comfort with personal style so that it’ll be perfect for casual and everyday wear.
“This is my version of street style. This is my version of Y2K, and my version of casual. So, I’m very happy with the result, because this is all of us put together as one,” the designer told the press during the fashion event.
The collection highlights denim and streetwear, featuring hoodies, tees, custom prints, distinctive fabrics, and a focus on monochromatic colors like gray, black, and white. It also includes trendy elements such as jorts, mini skirts, and a minimalistic yet bold mix of oversized shirts and baggy pants, all prominently displaying the KAIA logo in every item.
“Stylish and trendy. And yung madaling i-mix and match, ‘yung pwede suotin pang-everyday, pwede pang-school, pang-date, pang-workout or pwede rin pang family day. ‘Yung hindi mahirap bagayan. And yung personality naming lahat nandito kasi design ko and design ng KAIA, and yung color combinations, pinagisipan namin nang mabuti,” the designer explained.
(The pieces are easy to mix and match, making them suitable for everyday wear, school, dates, workouts, or family days. They’re not hard to coordinate with other items. All of our personalities are reflected here because the design is a collaboration between myself and KAIA, and we carefully considered the color combinations.)
Designed to reflect KAIA member’s individual fashion preferences, the KAIA x Wear CASA collection puts emphasis on self-expression. The members said that while they fused their personal styles with current fashion trends, they also took fan preferences into account to create outfits that would also appeal to their target audience.
Sophia of KAIA said that they wanted the collection to be for “everyone.” “So this is our personal style, but at the same time, you also have your own. We stayed with like monochromatic colors. It’s up to you if you want to put a pop of color in it to at least make your own style. But at the same time, you also have KAIA in your outfits,” she said.
A key focus of the KAIA x Wear CASA collection is also ensuring that each piece provides maximum comfort, which the group said is vital for maintaining confidence and authenticity. Angela, a member of KAIA, highlighted this by saying: “It’s very important when you’re an artist because as long as you’re comfortable in your situation, you’re confident.”
Mamawal, who has previously collaborated with P-pop sensation SB19, further demonstrated her commitment to the local P-pop movement through her new collection with KAIA: “I really like P-pop… P-pop is ours. So, dapat lang, we support them, and dapat we collaborate with them because we’re both Filipinos (It’s only right that we support them and collaborate with them because we’re both Filipinos). I love collaborating with P-pop groups because I feel like this is the genre we started, and this is the movement that they’ll lead. I want to be part of it because it’s inspiring.”
The designer also praised how proactive KAIA was in working for their collaboration. “They’re very talented, they’re very passionate. It’s so easy to dress them up and it’s so light to work with them. I think they represent the teenagers, the girls. And for me, they’re such good examples to the young generation.”
Angela of KAIA, meanwhile, shared how honored they are to not only put P-pop into the spotlight, but Filipino fashion and artistry, as well. “This collection is for everyone, and this is a movement po talaga ng P-pop sa fashion. I hope mas marami pang mga brands and media and local na mag-support tungkol sa P-pop. And they would be very involved sa mga collaborations na makukuha at matatanggap po namin,” she said.
(This is truly a movement of P-pop in fashion. I hope more brands, media, and local entities will support P-pop. I also hope they will be very involved in the collaborations we receive and accept.)
