Fantasia Slams Airbnb Host For ‘Trying To Kick My Kids And I Out’

Fantasia Barrino

Fantasia has called out an Airbnb owner for doing the most!

Opting not to “stay quiet,” the singer took to social media to allege that an unnamed host attempted to send her and her children out of the property at midnight. As far as she is concerned, the reason they were treated poorly was “due to the color of our skin.”

Fans Surround Fantasia With Love Amid Her Nerve-Wracking Experience

On Sunday, Fantasia went against her standards of avoiding dramatic scenes when she publicly slammed an Airbnb owner for racial profiling. In a lengthy statement shared via X, the “When I See You” hitmaker began:

“My stomach is so uneasy this morning as I’m riding back to my home in the cold and rain. I don’t say much when people do me wrong, but I can’t stay quiet on how my family and I were just treated from a host with @Airbnb @airbnbhelp trying to kick my kids and I out at 12:00 midnight.”

She recalled the host’s accusations about “having a party with loud noises outdoors because they saw balloons being dropped off and a game truck with no generator in the early part of the day.”

However, according to Fantasia, she stayed within the shortlet’s maximum capacity, and the host “never said we weren’t allowed to have any company over!!”

After pointing out that “the outdoor fire pit/jacuzzi and a well-equipped game room in the garage/poker table” affirmed that the property was occasionally used for entertainment purposes, the mother of three expressed:

“It’s evident to me this was racial profiling and the treatment we received was due to the color of our skin. I wanted my son to enjoy his friends (10-12) year old and make him feel special as I have been traveling for the last 35+ days promoting a movie I starred in. This time, I dare not stay quiet.”

The declaration brought X users, who aired their opinions and support for the 39-year-old, out in droves. “Thank you for NOT remaining silent. What would you like to see happen as a result of your maltreatment? I suspect your attorneys will make some calls to handle that business,” one person penned in the replies.

A second fan asserted, “So sorry you had to experience racial profiling and be subjected to what has been around many years but don’t let that stop you from having a wonderful day and a beautiful week. It’s they’re lost. Oh and happy birthday to your Son blessings to you and your family 🙏❤️.”

Fantasia Originally Wanted Nothing To Do With ‘The Color Purple’

Fantasia’s life had been seemingly more straightforward in May when she was months into filming for Blitz Bazawule and Oprah Winfrey’s Hollywood film, “The Color Purple.” As The Blast shared, the actress secured the role of Celie Harris in February 2022 after portraying the character in the theatrical version of the musical drama.

In case you missed it, the “American Idol” winner made her Broadway debut in 2007 in “The Color Purple,” stepping into the role previously held by Ronda Lachanze. Her performance garnered critical acclaim, earning her a Theatre World Award and a Broadway.com Award for Best Replacement Star.

Despite the acclaim, she disclosed that portraying Celie for nearly nine months on stage had taken a toll, leading her to vow not to revisit the character in any future version, whether on-stage or on-screen. Fantasia elaborated:

“My life at that time was all over the place. So, carrying Celie’s weight and my weight was not fun. And I remember saying in interviews and radio stations when they would ask me, I said, ‘Well, I did it, but I’ll never do it again.”

However, her firm decision wavered when one of the film adaptation’s showrunners, Scott Sanders, approached her and earnestly pleaded for her to reprise her role in the production, which is set for a Christmas Day debut.
