Bill Belichick will be the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons next season, according to a report from NFL on CBS insider Josina Anderson.
According to the veteran NFL journalist, she expects the 71-year-old future Hall of Famer to be coaching in the NFC South with the Falcons next season “barring a snag in negotiations.”
“Barring a snag in negotiations or a future development (still have to get a signature), I’m expecting Bill Belichick to become the next head coach of the NFC South Atlanta Falcons,” Anderson reported on Thursday, January 18.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Belichick had a meeting with Blank aboard his $180 million yacht off the coast of Antigua.

Anderson says that one of the main reasons Belichick will likely end up in Atlanta is due to his previous relationship with team CEO Rich McKay.
“His previous rapport with Falcons CEO Rich McKay creates comfort he can’t mimic in any other building with a current vacancy. Owner Arthur Blank is very skilled at being convincing and selling the benefits of coming to Atlanta—as I learned from Calais Campbell,” Anderson explained.
She also says Belichick’s relationship with the general manager in Atlanta will be smoother than it would be in somewhere like Philadelphia, and that she expects him to reunite with former coaches when it becomes official.
“The GM dynamic in Atlanta is presumably more palatable for Bill in Flowery Branch than it would be in Philly, and as mentioned both sides have been talking about this through for a while; thus my previous reports. I expect Belichick to reunite with some members of his former staffs whenever he makes it official,” she said.

During his 23 seasons as the head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick established a legacy as one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game as he posted a record of 266-121 and won six Super Bowl titles.
Prior to the start of the 2024 season, Belichick (333 wins) is just 15 wins away from breaking Don Shula’s record of all-time wins for head coach of 347.
