Facebook Group Compares Kanye West’s Breakdown To Will Smith

Newly single Kanye West is asking for support on Instagram

The drama surrounding Kanye West is heating up now that he’s been banned from the Grammys.

However, one Facebook group called “A Woman’s Soul” is comparing the “Donda” rapper’s situation to that of actors Will Smith and Tyrese Gibson – men who were all mocked for displaying their emotions in the public forum.

Facebook Group Wonders ‘Why Men Don’t Open Up About Their Mental Health Problems’

The Facebook group offered its own commentary on the Kanye West drama, claiming that the way people react to men going through a mental health crisis is part of the problem.

“The World watched Will Smith listen to his wife tell him live that she had an affair. People laughed at Will. He became a meme,” they began.

“When Tyrese Gibson had a mental breakdown online in regards to not seeing his daughter in 2 years. People laughed at him. He became a meme too,” they added.

“When Kanye West had a mental breakdown live on TV, people called him ‘crazy’. He too became a meme,” they concluded. “Yet people wonder why men don’t open up about their mental health problems.”

The comment pulled in over 6,000 reactions, over 2,000 shares, and hundreds of comments from people, most of those who agreed with the poster’s message. However, some noted that it still didn’t make the behavior okay.

“Regardless of whose fault it is or why society put so much pressure on men to always be strong, it’s not ok,” one user wrote. “I was raised by a single father and he couldn’t ask for help, financially or otherwise. Society makes men feel like they have to provide or they lose value as a man. It’s not normal for men to hold in their emotions. That’s probably one of the reasons why there’s so many men in prison versus women. Thank you for posting this in this group.”

“You’ll find that majority of ‘people laughed at him’ are men,” another noted. “Women hardly ever judge men for expressing their feelings or being emotional. If anything, we’d appreciate that more than them pretending to be made of rock and stone Men are being oppressed by a system they put in place.”

“Kanye is not a victim,” another wrote. “People were always empathetic towards his mental health issues and were supportive and understanding but the most recent episodes of him harassing Kim, throwing shade and making a video about him murdering Pete and the racial slurs towards Trevor is completely unacceptable…”

Fans Don’t Agree With Comparing Kanye West To Will Smith And Tyrese

“I’ll let Will & Tyrese have it. They didn’t deserve to be laughed at in their vulnerable moments,” another commented. “Kanye’s issues are a direct effect of his behavior. He is fully responsible for his own demise. I have zero sympathy for him.”

“Kanye West is mentally ill though,” another said. “I sympathize for him to an extent, but regardless take accountability for your mental illness, it’s not a ‘get out of jail’ card where you can just treat people how you want because you’re feeling some type of way. You cannot compare will and Tyrese with Kanye West. He’s aired out unnecessary things to the public on social media out of spite; he’s not thinking of the well-being of his children.”

“There is a difference in the behavior of the Will & Tyrese in comparison to Kanye,” another added. “Will & Tyrese didn’t lash out or make music videos depicting the person they are mad at dying. They didn’t have the erratic behavior Kanye is showing. He needs to get help to control his mental breakdown and stop harassing everyone he is harassing.”

“I would only feel bad for Tyrese for not seeing his daughter!” another shared. “Will did that to himself.. they have always had an open relationship and open marriage so why cry now? Kanye is a looney and he thinks it’s cute to use being a looney as an excuse for his horrible actions and horrible mouth.”

“No disrespect to the post. Apples and oranges. No Comparisons at all,” another noted. “He needs help. His tight circle of enablers embraces this behavior as acceptable and a paycheck. Being loyal is to be true even if you stand alone. Speak, seek, help.”
