Columbia Pictures

Columbia Pictures has yet to release an official plot or logline for Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2. However, Jason Reitman has shared some early details about the sequel.

He said the film will serve as “the next chapter in the Spengler family story.”  This time, though, we’ll be joining them in New York City. They’ll all be living together in the original Ghostbusters firehouse. That was the primary setting for the original two films and a return teased at the end of Afterlife 1. The movie’s production codename “Firehouse” celebrates the iconic locale.

The movie also has a chilly new logo, which seemingly foreshadows an important element of the film.

Behind-the-Scenes

Jason Reitman will not return to the director’s chair for Afterlife 2. His co-writer on the first film, Gil Kenan, will instead take over. Reitman and Kenan once again penned the script for the movie together.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2‘s Cast

Paul Rudd, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard will all return in Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2. Celeste O’Connor is also expected to be back for more spooky fun.

Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt have also reportedly joined the franchise. As have fellow newcomers James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind.

It’s unknown if original Ghostbusters stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts will reprise their roles. With the franchise returning to New York City the odds they will seem good.

Rumors indicate we’ll see at least at least a few surprising reprisals.
