Elon Musk, more than anything, wants to be liked.

It’s why he bought Twitter for $44 billion, where he can pal around with his legions of incel fans and it’s why, in real life, he constantly pops up at these Hollywood events despite trying to frame himself as being antithetical to the people that attend them.

Part of Elon’s problem in his pursuit of being liked, however, is that he’s just an incredibly awkward human being who is so clearly *trying* to be cool, as recently evidenced by his appearance at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Saturday.

Musk, in a tuxedo that neither matched nor fit right, rolled up to the red carpet and began acting like “your annoying iPad kid nephew after one too many Shirley Temples”, resulting hin him going massive viral on Twitter.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s original video of Musk has been ratioed — over 10,000 quote tweets versus just 6,000 likes  — while some quote tweeting adding commentary to it has racked up millions of views.

One tweet, in particular, which points out that they’ve “never seen anyone so desperate to be liked and so obviously unlikeable”, has racked up over 250,000 likes and 7 million views.

In addition to Musk, celebrities in attendance at the event included Kim Kardashian, Robert Downey Jr., Olivia Wilde, Jessica Chastain, Glenn Close, Bill Gates, Michelle Yeoh, Venus Williams, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, and many more — the exact type of liberal elites that Musk spends his days pretending like he’s the enemy of.
