On Tuesday, February 4 — just a couple of days after Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” become the most decorated rap song in the history of the Grammys — Drake kicked off his month-and-a-half long tour in Australia, and seemingly responded to Lamar’s victory lap.
It’s been a tough year for Drake, as the 38-year-old Canadian rapper got into a rap beef with Kendrick Lamar and lost so thoroughly in the public consciousness that it undeniably damaged his reputation.
Over the weekend, for example, while Kendrick was racking up Grammys in Los Angeles, Drake was doing a seated performance in a small club in Australia.
“Kendrick is doing the super bowl and Drake is doing an open mic — the fallout of their battle might go down as the most catastrophic fall for anyone of any rap beef ever,” a viral tweet with over a million views elouqueotly summarized.
In an apparent response to the Grammy-fueled coronation of Kendrick’s consummate victory over Drake, the Take Care rapped donned a bulled-hole ravaged hoodie on the first night of his tour in Perth, while also opening the show with to his song “Over My Dead Body.”

Like much of what Drake has done recently, however, the pop culture world largely dismissed the move from Drake as being try-hard and corny.

“Drake should hire me as a private consultant who just says ‘don’t do that’ every time he has an idea,” read one response to the video.
“Drake the type of guy to lose a rap beef and fall backwards into a coffin holding a rose with his tongue hanging out and x’s for eyes,” joked another.
“This is actually embarrassing like bro a single diss track calling you a p——– has the same amount of Grammy wins as you have in your whole career… just pack it up,” a third brutally put it.
Lamar will continue his hot streak when he performs during the halftime show of Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 9. That same night, Drake will be performing at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia — an arena with a capacity of 14,820.
