The covert fan shared their TikTok footage from Maui on Friday, February 16.

The on-location filming [seen here] showcased the crew hard at work bringing the timeless tale to life.

The highly anticipated remake sees actress Maia Kealoha take on the title role of the little Hawaiian girl who finds a blue alien and adopts him as part of her family.

As seen in the video, Maia absolutely looks the part – but she’s not the only one.

Remarkably resembling his animated counterpart, Stitch was seen comfortably seated in a little pink car, sans any CGI wizardry.

Stitch was to-scale with zero practical effects, looking just adorable.

‘STITCH LOOKS GREAT’

One user commented: “I didn’t expect Stitch to look as cute as he did in the animated movie and now I’m excited for it.”

Another fan wrote: “Stitch looks great.”

MAGICAL REMAKE!

Nearly 21 years after the release of Disney’s animated original, the live-action version began production.

Filming was actually slated to begin on Oahu in April 2023, but a costume trailer caught fire the night before the first day of shooting and, according to EW.

The cast also features Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, playing Lilo’s older sister, Nani.

The ensemble is rounded out by Kaipo Duidot portraying David Kawena, Courtney B. Vance taking on the role of Cobra Bubbles, and Billy Magnussen as Pleakley.

Comedian Zach Galifianakis will voice Jumba, while Amy Hill is set to portray a newly introduced character named Tūtū.

Chris Sanders, known for writing the original movie and providing the voice for Stitch, will reprise his role as the voice of Experiment 626 (Aka Stitch).

Additionally, Tia Carrere, the original voice of Nani, returns in a new role as Mrs. Kekoa, marking another original cast member’s return.

The original animated film from 2002 follows the life of a young, lonely girl named Lilo who adopts what she thinks is a dog from a local animal shelter.

This “dog” is actually Stitch, a genetically engineered alien known as Experiment 626, who has escaped from his planet and crash-landed on Earth.

Stitch is designed to cause chaos and destruction, but through his bond with Lilo, he learns the value of “ohana,” a Hawaiian term for family, meaning no one gets left behind.

While the release date remains undisclosed, the highly anticipated remake is said to hit Disney+ in June 2024.
