The Dead & Company just kicked off the first night of their 24-show residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, roughly a month after Phish rocked The Sphere with 4 nights back-to-back that were so transcendent for the jam band community that people have been unable to sleep since (me, I’m people, I can’t sleep and only think about how awesome Phish was inside The Sphere).

The morning after Phish rocked The Sphere, Drew Carey went viral for some profane tweets about how much the show had changed his life. Having seen Phish around a hundred times myself I can still say that no other Phish show sat as heavily with me as the ones in Las Vegas. And let me be clear, the experience inside The Sphere is doing A LOT of the heavy lifting at these shows because it’s unlike anything we’ve ever sene in our lives.

Diplo is now one of the people who can bisect his life into ‘life before and life after The Sphere’ after seeing Dead & Co. with John Mayer on Thursday night. Diplo shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) along with some sick videos from the experience:

Here are some mind-melding videos from the show:

It is hard to get a sense of how crisp the picture is inside without being there but the videos are doing a decent job. Of the show, Diplo said “the best/worst part was that I was the only person in this whole damn audience with my phone out.. yes I feel a bit shame but I think it’s important to document how happy these damn people were . It gave me hope in humanity”

There is a 0.0000% chance that’s true. None. Everyone at The Sphere busts out their phone. I did. I threw up some Reels on the BroBible account during the Phish run:

This was from the opening song by Dead & Company at The Sphere last night, how they came out on stage:

Another clip as the band played in the rain:

I’m torn between wanting to do an effective job at communicating to each and every one of you how incredible of an experience seeing your favorite band at The Sphere is, or even seeing a decent band (that’s not U2). I’m torn between that and not wanting to see ticket prices skyrocket next time I’m trying to go but bros, if you’re reading this, go see a show at The Sphere. It will change your life.
