Rapper and Twitch streamer DDG is facing backlash after saying he doesn’t believe someone could live off $10 million for the rest of their lives.
Over the years, Twitch streamers and content creators have sparked quite the conversation about having ‘real jobs’ compared to being online entertainers.
While some broadcasters feel like their occupations are more difficult than a regular 9-5, other influencers are grateful they get to entertain viewers for a living instead of doing manual labor five (or more) days a week.
In the past, figures like Asmongold, xQc, and even Kai Cenat got into this debate — and now, rapper DDG is the latest to dip his toes into the discussion, particularly in regards to the income difference between top streamers and average Joes.
Rapper and Twitch streamer DDG has sparked a viral debate after claiming most folks would be “broke by 50” if given $10M to live on for the rest of their lives.
DDG would “love to get canceled” over viral $10M lifetime debate
In March 2025, a clip from one of DDG’s Twitch streams went viral on social media, where the rapper said he would “love to get canceled” over his opinion that the average US citizen couldn’t survive off $10 million in their entire lifetime.
“$10M for the rest of your entire life is not enough money,” he began. “Let’s debate, please. I would love to get canceled about this. I stand on it, forever. It doesn’t have anything to do with me being a rapper.
“I don’t have nothing to do with me wanting nice sht. …I’m trying to tell you *s, bro, it ain’t enough. Argue with your granny. If I gave you $10M right now and said that’s all you gon’ have for the rest of your fking life, you’d be broke by 50.”
Netizens were quick to debate DDG’s take, and responses were quite mixed. While some couldn’t fathom spending that amount of cash in their lifetime, others agreed that it might not be enough to set them up for retirement in the current economic climate.
“I mean, he’s not wrong. If you’re under 30 and want to retire you need more than $10M,” one viewer wrote on X.
YouTube star Mike Majlak had a decidedly different opinion. “Nah, this ain’t it haha,” he replied. “Take $2M, buy a house. $8M invested will return like $700-$900K annually, call it $500K annual after taxes. Easy math if you’re not ridiculous.”

Still others pointed out that DDG recently lost his home in the California wildfires, saying that he could be approaching the debate from this particular angle.
“He also just lost a house in the LA fires and had no insurance. So maybe that’s where he’s coming from,” one suggested.
He wasn’t the only high-profile influencer affected by the blaze, either, as several prominent content creators like Colin and Samir and TikTok star Harry Mack also lost their homes during the unprecedented disaster.
