Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that a couple of new faces are headed to Salem, so fans are definitely buzzing following a recent announcement. On Instagram, Days teased the debut of some newcomers and encouraged speculation on who they’d be playing.
For starters, there’s Cherie Jimenez. Since Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton) confirmed a Gabi Hernandez DiMera (last played by Camila Banus) recast is coming, it’s safe to say Jimenez is stepping into Gabi’s shoes.
CDL has been predicting Jimenez would be the new Gabi for months, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise!
Still, it’s nice to get more evidence since all signs point to Jimenez being a Gabi recast.
Days spoilers say Jimenez will make her debut by late June, so it won’t be long until Gabi is freed from Statesville.
Meanwhile, there’s a mystery surrounding the cast addition of Al Calderon, who was also featured in the pic posted on Instagram.
Calderon will make his first appearance on DOOL this fall, but who will his character be?
There’s been some speculation that Calderon might be portraying a recast version of Gabi and Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) brother, Dario Hernandez (last played by Jordi Vilasuso).
We can go ahead and shut that speculation down since reliable soap insiders insist Calderon is NOT playing Dario.
Another popular idea being tossed around is that Calderon might be a Sonny Kiriakis (last played by Zach Tinker) recast.
Although it’s possible, it’s worth noting that Calderon is wearing a crop top and not really giving off the Sonny vibes we’d expect in the photo.
Plus, we know Zach Tinker has filmed scenes that have yet to air.
It looks like Tinker’s version of Sonny will pop up this summer, so that’s something else to keep in mind.
There’s a chance Days will change up their Sonny actor by the time autumn rolls around, but Calderon doesn’t seem to be following any fellow cast members who are connected to the Kiriakis clan on Instagram.
Calderon is, however, following Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark), so it seems likely he’ll be playing a love interest for Leo down the road.
Days insiders hint that Calderon’s character will indeed have a romantic interest in men, so Leo may have a new boyfriend this fall.
Since Calderon speaks Spanish and was seemingly photographed with Jimenez on the Hernandez house set, could he be a brand-new character connected to the Hernandez family?
It’d be easy for the show to invent a cousin for Gabi and Rafe or something along those lines.
