Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that a long-time baddie has finally reached the end of the road. James Read is OUT as Clyde Weston, so it’s time to say goodbye now that SOD has confirmed his departure.
Read made his debut in the role of Clyde back in 2014 and has made many return appearances over the years.
Clyde always seemed to have another trick up his sleeve, but now his luck has officially run out.
As the December 11 episode concluded, vengeful Catharina Greene (Susan Elena Matus) delivered a gunshot wound to Clyde’s chest and apparently ended the villain for good!
Clyde went out with a bang thanks to Catharina’s move, which left Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) and JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) in shock.
Although SOD offered confirmation on James Read’s departure, they did offer a little hope for a potential comeback by suggesting he was out “at least for now.”
In the world of soaps, there’s always the potential for a return no matter how someone departs.
Days characters come back in far-fetched ways all the time, so it’s possible that Clyde Weston could somehow resurface if DOOL decides he can be useful again.
However, it feels like Clyde has run his course at this point.
Without Clyde’s son, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), on canvas, it doesn’t make sense to keep relying on this villain without any major ties to Salem anymore.
Unfortunately, Clyde’s abrupt Days exit likely means that Chad won’t get the answers he was looking for about Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) remains.
Based on what Clyde said to Chad before Catharina’s shocker, Days seemingly left the door open for Abigail to still be alive.
Clyde’s careful wording could certainly be used to set the stage for Abigail’s eventual return – for real this time!
Sadly, it’ll be a lot harder for Chad to figure anything out with Clyde gone.
That’s disappointing news for Chad, but we’d say it was the right move to finally have James Read wrap his run as Clyde Weston.
