Costco May Be Removing Churros From Food Court

There are plenty of reasons to love Costco, and fans of the warehouse chain know there’s no better way to cap off a visit than making the trip to the food court past the registers. However, one longtime staple may be on the verge of disappearing for good.

Costco has managed to amass a sizeable and devoted following with the deals it offers to members who walk through the doors of its close to 900 locations around the globe, and the food court that awaits shoppers at the end of their journey is best known for the $1.50 hot dog and a soda combo with a price that’s remained unchanged since the 1980s.

That may be the most popular offering, but it’s far from the only one at a culinary outpost where you can also grab a massive pizza, a crispy chicken bake, or—if you’re in the mood for something sweet—ice cream or a churro. However, it sounds like one of those items is getting forced into retirement.

Now, the anonymous nature of Reddit means a thread concerning the impending fate of Costco churros should be taken with a grain of salt (or, more appropriately, a dash of cinnamon sugar), but someone claiming to be the brother of an employee at a food court location in California says the crunchy Mexican treats are on the verge of being replaced by cookies at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Another user chimed in to lend credence to the rumor by asserting “They have found a company to make the cookies” and plan to make the swap at some point near the beginning of 2024 (they added chocolate ice cream will also be appearing on the menu at some point next summer).

It’s worth noting Costco hasn’t made an official announcement concerning the future of the churros, but you may want to get them why you still can.
