Columbia Star Wars Collection: Where to buy

If Luke had worn pieces from Columbia’s new lineup of Star Wars-inspired cold weather gear, Han wouldn’t have had to slice open that poor Tauntaun. Dubbed the Skywalker Pilot Collection, the apparel collection launches Dec. 1, and is modeled after the original X-Wing and Snowspeeder flight suits from The Empire Strikes Back.

Columbia has been collaborating with Lucasfilm since 2016, and for this one it paid a visit to the Lucasfilm’s archives to draw inspiration for its new collection. More than just a tribute to the films, the majority of the Skywalker Pilot Collection could easily pass for screen-ready replicas of the original costumes seen in Empire, albeit much warmer.

The highlight of the collection is easily the $499.99 Ski Suit, which aims to duplicate the Snowspeeder flight suit from Episode Five, complete with its padded collar and functional storage pockets.

The suit also includes some fun easter eggs, like a rubberized identification badge, and Astromech repair schematics hidden under one of the pockets.

While many of the items included in this collection will be available at select Columbia Sportswear locations across the United States, the full-body Pilot Ski Suit is an online-exclusive product — with the exception of limited edition versions of the Ski Suit autographed by Mark Hamill, which will be available at select brick and mortar locations.

In addition to the full-body Pilot Ski Suit, Columbia has also produced a heavyweight Pilot Jacket, which includes many of the same fun details, but in a more compact form factor suited for everyday wear, costing $349.99. An aesthetically identical, yet lighter weight version of the Pilot Jacket will also be available for $199.99.

In addition to zip-up jackets, the collection features a pair of fleece pullovers available in either orange or white. Both versions feature a zippered kangaroo pocket, and a Velcro-sealed breast pocket. The white version of the hooded pullover features a small Snowspeeder schematic on the back, while the high-visibility orange features an X-Wing blueprint.

And then there’s the headgear. Columbia is producing a set of $299.99 snow goggles fashioned after the Rebel pilot helmet with livery accenting the elastic band, with an interchangeable orange visor.

In addition to Columbia’s lineup of Hoth-ready attire, you’ll find several all-weather options, including ball caps, crossbody bags, T-shirts, and long-sleeve shirts.
