ATHLETE Cody Simpson has made his music comeback after receiving bad news about his swimming career.
On Saturday, the pop music singer was hopeful to make the Australian swimming team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France – but didn’t make the final cut.
Cody, 27, finished in fifth place in the 100-meter butterfly at the Olympic trials and commented on his loss – and revealed he would be returning to the music industry.
“It’s bittersweet,” he told journalists at the major event in Brisbane.
“But I did what I could do – and that’s all you can do.”
Just days before getting into the pool, Cody reflected on his time training to be an Olympian.

‘I’VE GIVEN EVERYTHING I HAVE’
On his Instagram account, he shared a snap of himself focused while swimming laps.
“I find myself reflecting on what a cracking last 4 years I’ve had pursuing my dreams and desires in this sport.
“Seems like yesterday it was 2020, getting back in the water raw and wildly unfit having not swum or competed since I was a little boy.
“I’ve given everything I have morning and night in training to see what I can get out of myself; burnt every boat I could burn in the pursuit.
“The physical and mental expansion that swimming has now brought me is huge. Along with all the dreams achieved in swimming for Australia.
“Thanks to all who have supported me on my ride. I do all of this for the 12-year-old kid in me. He’d be so stoked to know everything that’s happened. Guess he does ‘cause he’s me! See you on the other side!”
‘SO PROUD’
Family and fans showed nothing but support for Cody in the comment section.
Cody’s sister Alli wrote, “Love you brother.”
“We’re the same age and following your journey for a little over a decade has been mind-blowing, I can’t wait for what’s ahead, I’m super proud already,” one fan said.
A second wrote, “Beyond proud of you mate.”
