Television star Chip Gaines is going to war with Kentucky fans as the program searches for its next head basketball coach. The Baylor supporter chimed in on social media as speculation grows linking Scott Drew to the opening.
A UK social media account posted a photo of Gaines and his wife, Joanna, with a caption reading, “Keep these two away from Scott Drew for the next 48 hours.”
Hilarity ensued.
The initial post joked about the couple’s wealth, insinuating that their support of Baylor basketball could influence Drew’s decision with his future in Waco uncertain. He’s said to be a top target for the Wildcats.

Kentucky has already seen one head coaching candidate back out of consideration after boosters at his current school ponied up boatloads of NIL money. These fans don’t want to see it happen again!
Chip Gaines immediately responded to the mention, going in on Big Blue twitter.
Do you kiss your mom with that mouth.. ask her who I am, she’ll know

In a series of replies, he went back-and-forth with Wildcat fans. He has no plans to simply let Scott Drew walk away from the Baylor basketball program!

And NIL might not be the only thing swaying Drew’s decision.
“Money is boring… Everybody’s got money. We’ve got God on our side,” Gaines said of the Christian university.
That doesn’t diminish the bankroll that the Magnolia founders boast. Parade reported that the couple has a net worth of $50M in a story earlier this year.
Both Chip and his wife, Joanna, are Baylor graduates, earning Alumni of the Year honors in 2015.
They went on to star in Fixer Upper, a home improvement show that grew to incredible success in the early 2010s.
He’s obviously passionate about his alma mater’s basketball future, and he’s not going down without a fight!
