Cher’s Son Elijah’s Divorce Dismissal Granted Amid Conservatorship Battle

Cher & Gregg Allman’s Son Elijah Blue Files For Divorce From His Wife

Cher‘s son Elijah Blue Allman‘s request for his divorce from his wife, Marieangela King, to be dismissed has been granted.

This comes after a judge initially denied Elijah’s request due to a temporary support system being in place.

Elijah filed for divorce from King in 2021, but the pair have since reconciled and seem to be putting on a united front against Cher amid her attempts to place her son under a conservatorship.

Following a second victory in court against his mother, Cher, Elijah Blue Allman has been granted his wish for his divorce from his wife, Marieangela King, to be dismissed.

A judge had previously denied his request on a legal technicality, noting that the couple had a temporary support order.

After his initial divorce filing in 2021, Elijah had been ordered to pay King monthly spousal support. King herself claimed in a court declaration that her formerly estranged husband owed her $40,000 in unpaid spousal support.

However, the couple seemed to have worked through their issues since Elijah’s mother, Cher, made legal attempts to place him under a conservatorship. King and Elijah reportedly reconciled in Mexico after she “risked her own life” to rescue him from a rehab center his mother placed him in and brought him back to the United States.

With their divorce dismissed, King now has the right, as Elijah’s spouse, to decide on his treatment moving forward.

In a legal document filed by Cher, requesting for conservatorship of her son, she highlighted that Elijah and King were estranged and their “tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”

The document, obtained by The Blast, read: “[Cher] is informed and believes that Angela is not supportive of Elijah’s recovery and that Angela actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs. Most recently, [Cher] is informed and believes that Angela took steps to check Elijah out of the treatment center where he was receiving much-needed medical care.”

The “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” actress claimed that due to the couple’s ongoing divorce procedures, “Angela is not entitled to appointment as conservator of Elijah’s estate unless the court finds, by clear and convincing evidence, that such [an] appointment would be in Elijah’s best interest.”

Cher alleged that an appointment of King as conservator would be “unsafe” and to the detriment of Elijah and his estate.

“Indeed, it would be unsafe for Elijah and his estate because [Cher] is informed and believes that the appointment of Angela as conservator of Elijah’s estate would result in the immediate loss or dissipation of Elijah’s assets for self-destructive purposes,” the court document stated.

After the initial court hearing on January 5, Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui denied Cher’s request for immediate conservatorship of Elijah, noting that the singer and her team failed to properly serve her son papers, which would have given him and his legal counsel enough time to prepare their case.

The hearing was then moved to January 29, and Judge Uzcategui, again, denied the singer’s request for a temporary conservatorship of Elijah, stating: “don’t question the motivation behind Cher wanting to [help] her son… however, I do not see sufficient evidence.”

Following the ruling, Elijah’s attorney released a statement that he “is thrilled that the court saw he does not need a temporary conservatorship.” They also revealed that the 47-year-old is open to mediation with his mother.

Cher’s lawyers, on the other hand, claimed that Elijah “is surrounded by people that deny the mental illness… we are trying to avoid a situation where his life is at risk.”

Elijah himself has stated that he has been sober for over 90 days and does not need his mother’s “unsolicited support.”
