Cher reveals she has lost contact with her son Elijah Blue Allman, and if he is able to collect on his next trust payment, he will immediately spend it on drugs.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the the Grammy-award-winning singer is still fighting for a conservatorship over her son, and she fears he would spend his money on drugs if left to manage his finances.
Elijah himself recently filed to dismiss his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King, who has accused the singer in the past of kidnapping her husband.
Cher Fears ‘Harm’ Will Come To Her Son’s Estate
In a recent court document, the singer complained that she has been unable to see her son and that it is necessary that a temporary conservator be appointed for her son Elijah’s state, due to him not being in the best mental state to manage his own finances.
“Elijah Blue Allman is entitled to receive distributions from a Trusr, but due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues, Elijah is not currently able to manage his finances.”
The document further states that Cher is “concerned that if such distribution [of funds] were to be made directly to Elijah, such fund will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting his life at risk.”
The “Believe” singer then emphasized that it’s necessary for a temporary conservator to be appointed for her son’s estate, to “receive the distribution owed to Elijah so that such funds can be held and managed for his benefit.”
Cher further claimed in her court filing, that her son’s wife, King, was not notified about her petition on January 2, because she feared her daughter-in-law would take steps to “prevent” her from “locating” and “serving” Elijah, which would have made him unaware of his conservatorship hearing to be held today, January 5.
Elijah Blue Allman And His Wife Reconciled
Following news of his mother’s attempt to file a conservatorship for him, Elijah swiftly filed to dismiss his divorce from his long-estranged wife, Marieangela King.
The duo had been in the midst of a divorce, during which King accused Cher of kidnapping her son, while she and Elijah while attempting to fix their marriage.
Elijah filed for the dismissal “without prejudice,” which means that there is a chance he could file for divorce from King again if needed. King also previously claimed that Cher had constantly “interfered” with her husband’s health management and blocked her from accessing her properties.
The singer has since denied the claims, saying they were “not true,” adding that it’s her job as a mother, to ensure that Elijah gets the best care possible.
“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher told People Magazine about her son’s battle with substance abuse.
She continued, “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
Cher Filed For Conservatorship Of Elijah
As previously reported by The Blast, Cher took legal steps to take control of her son’s estate, claiming that the 47-year-old was unable to manage it.
The legal document read that “[Cher] has been unable to discuss Elijah’s preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the concurrently filed Confidential Supplemental Information, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate.”
Her lawsuit stated that she was worried her son would spend his money on drugs due to his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues.
Cher also accused her daughter-in-law of not being suitable to serve as Elijah’s conservator, noting that she believes his wife “is not supportive of Elijah’s recovery and that Angela actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs.”
The singer further alleged that “Angela took steps to check Elijah out of the treatment center where he was receiving much-needed medical care.”
