‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ YouTuber reveals life update 18 years after viral fame

The viral star of YouTube’s ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ video from 18 years ago, gave an update on why he rarely brings his viral fame up in conversation.

Charlie Davies-Carr, now 18 years old, blew the internet away with his innocence when he was only about 12 months old.

In 2007, Charlie was the baby who bit his older brother’s finger. “Ouch Charlie, Charlie bit me!” his brother Harry Davies-Carr responded as his younger brother chomped down.

“Ouch Charlie, that really hurt!” Harry added in his English accent. The YouTube video has garnered 887M views over 18 years.

Despite being a viral sensation, Charlie hasn’t used the video to his advantage. He told BBC News this February that although the ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’ clip would have been a prime “fun fact” during new encounters, he refused to use it, in most cases.

Charlie Davies-Carr explains what “annoyed” him most about viral YouTube video

“I was never going to use it as my fun fact. I would always come up with something random, something different, because I feel like it’s just a bit [annoying],” Charlie said.

“In the schools, sometimes I did find it a bit annoying, especially when I was younger, people would bring it up. Sometimes teachers would find out, some teachers, you know, would really care. And some, really wouldn’t care.”

The viral video followed him far past grade school, all the way to University and nights at the pub. He said he became especially annoyed when it would be brought up while out with new friends.

However, in 2021, Charlie expressed his gratitude for the video’s success after it sold as an NFT for $760,999. “I can’t even remember doing it so making money off it, and having experiences off it, is really cool,” he said.

While it hasn’t reached nearly 900M views just yet, the viral talking baby from May 2024 might be able to relate to Charlie and his fame. Stefanie, aunt of Kate Wise the talking baby, recorded her niece as she said, “Me!” when asked who was excited to go to Orlando’s Four Seasons. The original TikTok video instantly went viral and now has over 85M views.
