Blake Shelton Is Leaving The Voice

It’s been over a decade since the show began in the US. Now, the long-standing coach of The Voice, Blake Shelton, announced that he’s leaving the competition show after 23 seasons.

“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after Season 23,” Blake said in a statement. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me.”

Blake and his sultry country music voice will no longer turn around in that ginormous red chair after Season 23, which is set to air in spring 2023. Season 22 is currently filming with fellow coaches Camila Cabello, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani.

“I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani! I have to give a huge shoutout to the singers — the ‘Voices’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach. Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these artists, us coaches and everyone at ‘The Voice’ chasing their dreams. It wouldn’t happen without you!”

Here’s what fans had to say about Blake’s departure:

But wipe away those tears, because it was announced his final season will mark the return of Kelly Clarkson and introduce two new coaches, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan.

Pause. Yes, I said Niall Horan! And you best believe the fandom is losing it over his debut on The Voice next year.

Everybody had the same hilarious thought the minute the news dropped of Niall joining:

We’ll be sad to see you go, Blake. But we can’t wait to see you with Kelly, Chance, and Niall next year!
