GEENA Davis has answered the question all Beetlejuice fans have been wondering.
The actress revealed whether or not she will appear in the Beetlejuice sequel this summer.
Geena, 68, was honored with the Viola Davis Trailblazer Award at the CinemaCon 2024 Big Screen Achievement Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 11.
While there, she did interviews and talked about her career and upcoming projects.
Entertainment Tonight asked Geena if she was going to be in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the 1988 film, which was announced at last year’s CinemaCon.
“No, I’m not. I’m not in the remake,” she revealed.
“Oh, you were expecting that I would be? Yeah, no, you know what?”
“Because my theory is that ghosts don’t age… Not that I have,” Geena joked.
Geena played Barbara Maitland, the wife of Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) and a ghost who haunts the home of the Deetz family.
At the end of Beetlejuice, the Maitlands and the Deetzes agreed to live in harmony together, so it is unclear why the the ghosts aren’t in the sequel.
But, Geena, reiterated that she thinks it has to do with aging.
“Our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died forever, so it’s been a while, it’s been a minute,” she told the outlet.
A HIGH HONOR
Geena appeared at the awards in a floor-length black dress.
The spaghetti-strap outfit, adorned with flowers on the straps, showed off her toned arms.
She wore her red hair down and curly.
Geena talked more with ET and said that she was honored to get this award.
The actress was humbled to follow Viola Davis‘ footsteps.
“It’s an incredible honor, you know, such an enormous fan of hers, and she really is a phenomenal trailblazer,” she said.
“It means the world to me and also I’m really grateful.”
BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE
Because Geena has been so caught up in this award, she hasn’t had time to watch the trailer for the highly-anticipated movie.
But, many fans around the world did and they got a sneak peek at who is in the sequel.
Michael Keaton, 72, is back and reprising his role as the title character.
He first appears in the Deetz’s attic in the trailer.
My theory is that ghosts don’t age… Not that I have. Our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died forever, so it’s been a while, it’s been a minute.
