Some folks might be in the mind to finally let the Lord of the Rings die down since the movies came out years ago. Despite the Rings of Power coming to Amazon Prime soon, plenty of new, innovative movies and TV shows are coming out that demand a lot more attention. But plenty of people want to keep hearing about the world that Tolkien created. The story is filled with plenty of interesting characters, all of whom would do well with an origin story. While we’ve seen what amounts to an origin for some of them, there are those that many people feel haven’t been fully explored yet. One such character is Aragorn, aka Strider, who is one of the most prominent characters of the story and one of the most important. While much of his story is known to superfans that have read the books and everything else they could get their hands on, it does feel as though an origin movie would be great to see, just to make sure that everyone knows how he grew up and how he came to embrace the life of a ranger.
Gandalf is another question mark in the eyes of man fans.
It’s true that his origins have been detailed and mapped out among the many books and YouTube videos that exist, but seeing Gandalf’s emergence into the story in a live-action movie would still be kind of interesting, to be honest, since it might flesh out some of the details about the character that a lot of people have been wondering about. Gandalf has been one of the most involved characters in this story, and as such, it’s not hard to understand why people would want to learn more about him. Plus, the fact that he’s so insanely powerful and can still be affected by various other characters in the story does bear some consideration.
Together, the two characters are an integral part of the LoTR story.
While they spend a great deal of time apart during the trilogy, it must be stated that together they’re a formidable force that shares some connection that could be built upon. Whether a single origin movie would work for both of them, or if they would each need their own, it feels likely that many fans would want to see their stories unfold either way. The question of whether or not this would be wise to give to a streaming channel or use for the big screen is one that might need serious consideration since it feels as though streaming might be the best way to go. Trying to justify this wouldn’t be too hard since Rings of Power is on streaming, and anything that might be slightly less epic than the initial trilogy would no doubt be better off as an episodic show or a movie used to explain the finer points of the story.
It’s hard to tell how many spinoffs LoTR might inspire in the years to come.
There are plenty of different stories and characters within the stories that people might want to know more about, but it’s easier to think that some of these tales might be better left to the books. If every story from the LoTR trilogy was given a show or a movie, it’s easy to imagine that Tolkien’s tale might need its own streaming channel. But it’s also easy to imagine that such a channel wouldn’t do all that well, which is why so many tales don’t need to be told. When it comes to Gandalf and Aragorn, though, these two characters have such a broad range throughout the main story that one can see without any trouble why they might be the subject of another movie or show, either together or on their own. Gandalf’s story might be the more compelling tale since he’s been around for so much longer and has been a part of the struggles of Middle Earth for so many lifetimes that only a few races can likely remember his origins. If that’s not worth talking about, then nothing is.
How many other stories from Middle Earth might be adapted?
There are plenty of stories of Middle Earth that people might like to see, but unless there’s a genuine interest from the fans and from those who loved the movies, it’s bound to happen that a lot of characters and tales will remain in the books where they were first seen. Gandalf and Aragorn are both attractive enough for fans to follow from their beginning to the moment they became embroiled in the story that announced Tolkien to the world in such a big way.
