ALYSSA Milano has clapped back at fans after being accused of begging them for money.
The Charmed actress previously set up a GoFundMe page asking for $10,000 to fund her 12-year-old’s trip to New York with his baseball team.
Alyssa, 51, created the page in May 2023 and promoted it on social media on Thursday.
“My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip. Any amount would be so greatly appreciated,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, and shared the link for people to donate.
The Who’s the Boss alum shares Milo and daughter Elizabella Dylan, nine, with her talent agent husband, David Bugliari.
Alyssa’s post quickly went viral, with critics slamming the actress for asking for donations despite her fortune.
On Friday, the Hollywood actress shared a statement regarding the backlash.
Alyssa said, “I’m getting media inquiries about whether I have financially contributed to my son’s baseball team. I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches, thrown bday parties and sponsor any kid who can’t afford monthly dues.
“The kids also do fundraising themselves—car washes, movie nights, and many other fun things! Thank you to all who have contributed to the gofundme! You’ve made things easier for these boys and their families.”
‘A GREAT EXAMPLE’
After reading her statement, several fans rushed to Alyssa’s defense.
One said, “It’s unreal, right away, just because you’re an actress, people think you have to fund the entire thing. There’s not a thing wrong with your doing this. It’s a great example for the kids to see you as Alyssa the Mom, not Alyssa the actress. This world is overrun with/Karens!”
Alyssa responded back, “I know. And I would if I could.”
Another included, “Thank you for helping give these boys an opportunity to play baseball. As a former college baseball coach and athletic director, I respect people who give so much of their time, treasures and talents for the kids. Everyone has something they can contribute.”
“There’s nothing wrong with kids of rich people doing fundraising and learning skills. But leveraging your audience to fundraise for them does not teach them anything,” a third admitted.
THE BACKLASH
Fans called out the star after reading her original post.
“Begging for money for a pleasure trip instead of the kids earning it by fundraising with car washes etc,” one raged at the time.
“Alyssa Milano is shameless and shameful. Holds her son up to ridicule. He’ll never forget this.”
“Cowardly uber-rich Alyssa Milano turned off her comments and commenced to beg the poor for money, because she knows she’ll [be ratioed] for her audacity,” another added.
“Her net worth is $10M. It’s the audacity for me.”
“So the total that needs to be raised is only $10,000, but aren’t you Alyssa Milano? You’re that famous celebrity from ‘Who’s the Boss?’ and ‘Charmed,'” a third pointed out.
“The wildest thing about Alyssa Milano asking for donations is that I wouldn’t even do that in a small town as a relatively financially comfortable person just because it would seem tacky,” someone else fumed.
ALYSSA’S NET WORTH
As of October 2023, Alyssa has an estimated net worth of $10 million.
She earned most of her fortune in the 1990s TV series Charmed.
The actress earned roughly $90,000 per episode for the show, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
The mother-of-two has most recently appeared in TV shows like Mistresses and Insatiable.
MEET MILO
On August 31, 2011, she gave birth to her son and first child, Milo Thomas Bugliari.
Milo’s hobbies include baseball as he plays for the 12U travel baseball team based in California.
For her son’s 12th birthday in 2023, Alyssa shared a sweet tribute to her firstborn on her Instagram.
“This young man is 12 today. Milo, to be your mother is to be in a state of perpetual awe,” Alyssa began.
“You are constantly teaching those around you how to be better, how to do better. Not by your words, which are always kind, but by your actions. No joke—I learn from you every single day.
“You deserve every wish and every dream to come true because you work so damn hard to achieve them. I say it every year and I’ll say it again—on the day you were born, I was reborn. Thank you for all that you do and for making me who I am. You are simply the best. And I love you the most.”
MEET ELIZABELLA
Elizabella “Bella'”Dylan Bugliari, was born on September 4, 2014.
Alyssa and her daughter are often called twins, as they look very alike.
In January 2023, Milano took to Instagram to post a picture of Elizabella asleep next to her, captioned: “With Bella, I’ve tried so hard to be aware of everything. I know the last time I breastfed her. I remember it vividly. The last time I fed anyone from my body.
“I knew it was coming to an end. I saw it coming. We were in a My Gym class. She had just turned 2. There was a loud noise, she got scared, and she said, ‘chi chi mama’. She soothed herself and that was it. She was done. That part was over.
“I hope my kids find this post someday. I hope they’re reminded of the warmth of my bed. And who knows—this may be the last time she sleeps with me. (Doubt it but that’s the whole point. You just never know.) Lasts! Lasts are hard.”
Like her actress mother, Elizabella has begun acting and appeared in a musical theater production of Joseph.
