Robert Logan, who starred in the detective series 77 Sunset Strip and as the father in several return-to-nature adventure movies, has died. Logan passed away on May 6 in Estero, Florida, at the age of 82 due to natural causes.
Logan’s family decided to wait until Wednesday, August 7, to announce his passing, as reported by People.
“He was the embodiment of agape, literally the Platonic ideal of spousal or familiar love,” the actor’s family told the outlet. “[We] felt so lucky, so blessed, to experience that; so lucky and so blessed to know him,” they added.
Born on May 29, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, and partly raised in Los Angeles by his father Frank, a banker, and his mother Catherine, a homemaker, Logan caught the eye of a talent scout. He swiftly landed on the ABC detective series 77 Sunset Strip.
After Gerald Lloyd Kookson III was elevated from parking attendant at Dino’s Lodge (a nightclub owned by Dean Martin) to partner and private investigator at the adjacent detective agency, Logan stepped in to replace him on 77 Sunset Strip. He portrays another slang-talking hipster character named J.R. Hale. He played this role for two seasons, from 1961 to 1963.

Logan is also widely recognized for his role as Skip Robinson in the 1975 family adventure drama The Adventures of the Wilderness Family. This film led to two sequels: The Further Adventures of the Wilderness Family in 1978 and Mountain Family Robinson in 1979.
His credits also feature the 1976 western adventure Across the Great Divide, and the 1978 family adventure The Sea Gypsies. He also made guest appearances in TV series such as Dr. Kildare and Mr. Novak.
The actor met his wife, Alina, on the set of the 1986 film A Night in Heaven. The couple tied the knot in 1985.
Logan’s résumé also features the film Kelly (1981), which he both wrote and starred in. He also appeared in episodes of Riptide and 1st & Ten. He transitioned from acting in the late 1980s to focus on filmmaking documentaries.
Logan is survived by his siblings: Logan, Theresa, Janet, and Timothy; his wife, Alina; his son, Anthony; and his daughter, Courtney. He is also remembered by his daughter-in-law, Hayley, and his granddaughters, Elsa, Ingrid, and Alma.
