In film as in life, not everyone can be a winner, and by “not everyone,” we mean “most of the tripe served up by major studios on any given night at the cinema.” Still, most of that tripe was made by hardworking people who made a lot of money for their efforts. Only a precious few films are so repellent to audiences and critics alike that the people who made them want them buried deep in the bad movie cemetery and have anyone who even remembers them arrested.
There was one particular such film that, ahem, forced its way into Redditor shurrupyetick’s consciousness. “I was watching the trailer for (the) A Disturbance in the Force documentary, about the Star Wars Holiday Special that Lucasfilm essentially tried to make the world forget after it aired,” they told r/Movies. “It got me thinking about films and shows that studios and creators have tried to ‘Memory Hole,’” they continued, citing Song of the South as “the only other example that springs to mind.”
They then asked for more “movies that studios want you to forget,” and boy oh boy, did Reddit ever remember.
