Maybe you’ve noticed when you’ve parked a baby in front of the nearest screen to get even the smallest of breaks, but children’s movies and TV shows don’t tend to be masterpieces. They don’t have to be either. Have you ever met a baby? Give ‘em some bright colors, friendly shapes and soothing sounds, and they’re as happy as an Academy voter at a Coppola movie. Stupid babies.
Just because you don’t have to give it your all doesn’t mean you never should, though. That’s why we backflip out of bed every morning, and it’s why some of the creative minds behind children’s media still put thought into their stories and characters, including some pretty interesting villains.
User yrahcaz29 was specifically thinking of Rattlesnake Jack, the outlaw diamondback voiced by Bill Nighy whose presence looms over 2011’s Rango (in large part thanks to the Bill Nighy of it all), when they asked r/AskReddit, “Who is a really well-written villain from an animated/kids show?”
