Lil Wayne has lost all faith in his favorite NFL team, the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers suffered yet another loss on Sunday, after a lackluster offensive display against the Detroit Lions. Wayne posted a tweet shortly after Green Bay’s 15-9 defeat at the hands of the Lions where he declared their 2022-23 campaign is a wrap, and stated the team should have cut ties with Aaron Rodgers prior to this season.
Rodgers signed a four-year, $200 million deal with the Packers earlier this year, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. According to Spotrac, if the Packers were to get rid of the four-time league MVP next season, the team would take on $99 million in dead money towards their payroll, which basically means Green Bay cannot afford to let him go.
After starting the season with a 3-1 record, the Packers have dropped five straight games. They are now five games behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North division. Green Bay’s decline could be traced back to their decision to trade wide receiver Devante Adams this past offseason, despite the overwhelming statistical evidence that the star quarterback’s success was linked to his No. 1 target.
Adams was targeted 169 times by Rodgers last season. The next closest player was running back Aaron Jones with 65.
The Packers host the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday at Lambeau Field.
