Dolly Parton has released the latest track from her upcoming Rockstar album, a powerful duet of “Wrecking Ball” with her fairy goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. The dynamic pair first performed the track on Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, which aired live on NBC.
“When I heard ‘Wrecking Ball’ I almost wept in my car. When it started into the chorus it hit me like a wrecking ball,” explains Dolly. “I thought how great can a song be and how great can Miley Cyrus be? I thought, I have to have that song on my rock album and I have to have Miley sing it with me! I love it and I hope you do!”
Earlier this week, Dolly was announced as the headliner for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, when the Dallas Cowboys play the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game is set for 1:30 p.m. PST/4:30 p.m. EST.
“Wow! What an honor to get to kick off The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign with the halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys game this Thanksgiving,” Parton said in a press release. “Those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times. My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”
Last week, Dolly announced the launch of a new radio series, What Would Dolly Do? Radio, which will premiere on Apple Music 1 this month. The new four-part series will be co-hosted by Kelleigh Bannen and will explore all aspects of the country legend’s career thus far.
The first episode, which will air on October 26, will dive into Parton’s look and legacy, celebrating the multifaceted country and cultural icon, from rockstar to role model, trailblazer to national treasure. The second episode will change tact and find the star talking about business, from stage to screen.
