On Thursday, Olivia, 43, expressed gratitude to everyone who has reached out in support since sharing her story.

“I’m really grateful for all the love and support I’ve received about my diagnosis that I shared yesterday,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“Reading your stories and comments has really meant a lot to me and I just wanted to express my gratitude for all of it.”

OLIVIA’S CANCER DIAGNOSIS

On Wednesday, the actress shared a carousel of photos, which included slides of text to explain how she found the aggressive cancer.

The upload came just three days after she attended the 96th Annual Academy Awards with her longtime partner, comedian John Mulaney, 41.

In February 2023, she and her sister took a genetic test that checked for 90 different cancer genes, which all came back negative.

Two months later, however, a biopsy revealed that she had Luminal B cancer in both breasts.

“In the past ten months I have had four surgeries, so many days spent in bed I can’t even count and have learned more about cancer, cancer treatment and hormones than I ever could have imagined,” the Newsroom actress said.

“Surprisingly, I only cried twice. I guess I haven’t felt like there was time to cry.”

Olivia revealed that she had kept her battle private and only let others see her when she had energy.

“I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing,” she said.

Thirty days after her diagnosis, Olivia underwent a double mastectomy and went from “feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next.”

Olivia credited her family and friends, as well as John and their two-year-old son, Malcolm, for their support throughout her health battle.

“I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect.

“For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes,” she added.

Olivia went on to thank other friends who have also had breast cancer for helping her navigate the most difficult moments.

She finished her post by saying she was extremely grateful for the nurses, patient coordinators, and staff at the hospitals at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles and Saint John’s in Santa Monica.

Photos in Olivia’s post showed tender moments of her in the hospital, as well as the framed photo of John and Malcolm she had by her bedside.

POURING SUPPORT

In the comment section of Olivia’s Instagram post, many celebrities have publicly shown their utmost support.

“Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you,” her partner John wrote.
