KATIE Couric’s daughter Ellie has welcomed a baby son with her husband Mark Dobrosky.
The former Today star, 67, raved about her new “grandma” status as she cradled her grandson, John Albert, in sweet photos in the hospital.
Katie shared a snap of herself with a shocked expression on her face while staring down at the newborn in her arms.
She also posted a cute shot of Ellie, 32, lying in the hospital bed with John in her arms and Mark smiling next to her, as well as an image of John wrapped up in a stripy blanket.
In another snap, the TV host‘s other daughter Carrie, 28, looked every inch the doting aunt as she held John in her arms.
“John Albert Dobrosky was born on his due date, Saturday, March 23rd at 8:23 am, just shy of seven pounds,” Katie announced on Instagram on Sunday.
“He will be called Jay in honor of his maternal grandfather. Albert is after Mark’s paternal grandfather.”
John “Jay” Monahan is Ellie’s father and Katie’s first husband, who died from colon cancer in 1998.
Katie had been married to John for nine years when he died.
The journalist added in her caption, “Mom and Dad (Ellie and Mark) are over the moon (it was a full moon).
“I am thrilled to have my first grandchild and Carrie can’t wait to be a cool Aunt.”
Katie added that her financier husband John, 61, was “enjoying handing out cigars.
“We feel so blessed. We’ll have more tomorrow in Wake-Up Call,” she concluded.
Ellie and Mark tied the knot on July 4, 2023.
Katie – who battled breast cancer in 2022 – revealed in December that Ellie was expecting her first child.
Ellie and Carrie told their mom the big news before they attended a Taylor Swift Eras Tour show.
In a sweet video, Carrie gave her mom a friendship bracelet – in one of the tour’s popular traditions – with beads that spelled out “Granny to be.”
As a shocked Katie tried to decipher the news, Ellie said, “I’m pregnant.”
“You are? Wow,” Katie said, covering her mouth in shock.
Ellie asked if her mom was “freaked out,” to which the television host said, “No!” while laughing.
Katie admitted she had been “dying to tell” her followers the good news in the video’s caption.
“This is what happens when you go to a Taylor Swift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!’”
