Behind every successful man is a good woman, or so the famous phrase goes. It’s true, but it’s missing a vital additive, in our opinion. It should be more like, “behind every successful man is a good woman, and behind every successful woman is a good man,’ because every successful marriage takes two good people willing to give 100 percent. Tom Brady is, without question, one of the most talented, most successful, most impressive athletes in the world, and he thanks his wife for that. When it comes to Gisele and Tom Brady, they work because they are a team – and because we have a feeling that anything these two are involved in just works because they’re not giving up.
Gisele on Tom Brady and The Beginning of Their Relationship
The beginning of their relationship was nothing short of entirely rocky. Tom Brady ended a long relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan when he was introduced to Gisele Bundchen in 2006. The two began dating in December 2006, and sparks seemed to fly immediately. However, when Bridget Moynahan announced she was expecting Tom Brady’s child in February 2007, no one thought Gisele and Brady would last. He was expecting his first child with his ex, she was a new girlfriend, and it all seemed like a bit much.
However, she was there for Brady when his son John was born in 2007. She married Brady in 2009, and she went on to welcome two more kids with the football player. She often shares photos of her kids with Brady and photos of her stepson with the family. It seems she’s been a devoted stepmother who welcomes her husband’s child with open arms and all the love in her heart. He is close with his younger brother and sister, too, and we imagine she loves to see that bond between all three kids.
“Two months into our relationship, Tom told me his ex-girlfriend was pregnant. The next day, the news was everywhere, and I felt my world had been turned upside down,” she said years later of the moment she found out her new boyfriend was having a baby with the woman he’d been with for more than two years before her. Of course, this would be a difficult time. No woman would be excited about her new boyfriend having a baby with his ex at the beginning of their romance. However, she also said, “He made my heart expand in ways I didn’t know was possible,” about her stepson. She loved him instantly, and she considers him her bonus child, who also inspired her to have babies of her own sooner rather than later so that her bonus child could have siblings close in age.

Tom Brady’s Amazing Football Career
He’s talented. But, many people forget that his college career and the beginning of his NFL career were unimpressive. He struggled to get playtime during his college years at the University of Michigan. He did not become a starting player until his junior year. Brady was not someone anyone in the NFL wanted to draft. He was hopeful on the day of the 2000 NFL Draft, but no one wanted him too badly. The New England Patriots decided that they’d take him in the sixth round of the draft (if you’re counting, Brady was the 199th overall pick that year). He was the seventh quarterback chosen and thought he’d be a second or third-round choice. He was not wanted.
That gave Tom Brady a pause. He wasn’t going to be average. Mediocrity was not for him. It was frustrating to start his first season in the NFL as the fourth-string quarterback. He only got a chance to play in his second season because Drew Bledsoe was injured. Tom Brady worked. He worked on his mental strength. His physical strength. His emotional strength. He worked on every aspect of the game. He lived it. He put everything into it. Now, the man no one wanted on their team is the most famous football player in the world.

Gisele on Tom Brady and Their Life
“I think without her, there’s no way I could be doing what I’m doing. It takes an amazing partnership to do it. She’s a good influence on me. She’s been a great influence on me for a long time. She’s just a great woman,” said Brady of his wife as he announced he would come back to play for a 23rd – and very likely final – season (his third with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). He’s not wrong, either. She is at every game. She takes care of their family; she does it all.
Though the world speculates that this couple is facing marital discord following Tom Brady’s decision to un-retire just a few weeks after retirement, it seems like a lot of speculation to all of us. Gisele has posted to her own Instagram page many photos with her husband, family moments, anniversary love, and even that she and her kids are his number one fan and support everything he does. While she likely wanted to see him retire to spend more time with the kids, we also don’t see Tom Brady as the type who would completely disregard his wife’s feelings to do what he wants. We feel this was a long-discussed topic, and they agreed to one more season as a family.
