Legacy Recordings is honoring the 30th anniversary of Pearl Jam’s seminal sophomore album Vs. with a series of special new releases, and Consequence has vinyl copies to give away to three lucky fans!
Each of the three winners will receive a 2xLP black vinyl edition of Vs., the 1993 follow-up to Pearl Jam’s game-changing 1991 debut Ten. With tracks like “Daughter,” “Dissident,” “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,” and “Rearviewmirror,” the album saw the grunge icons avert the curse of the sophomore slump, even becoming one of the few bands in Saturday Night Live history to perform three songs in an episode (rather than the standard two). Vs. also marked Pearl Jam’s first LP with producer Brendan O’Brien, who became their go-to collaborator for numerous subsequent records.
Vs. was also a huge album in terms of moving physical copies, too, setting the record for most first-week vinyl sales — one they would hold for 20 years. So it’s fitting that the record is getting a much-deserved reissue in that format, allowing fans both new and old to take part in its history. (Hint hint — it would also make a great Christmas gift to your grunge-inclined loved ones.)
