There are plenty of reasons to be ‘Addicted’ to the new single from Loveless, which arrives with a video exploring the realities of being an artist.
The new track combines elements of emo, grunge and dream-pop to deliver a soaring tune, with Julian Comeau’s vocals rising above it all.
‘Addicted’ is a track about recognising your own shortcomings, only to realise you’re addicted (clue in the name) to the drama, pivoting around the central refrain “I don’t like what I’ve become”.
The L.A. rock duo have had meteoric success in recent times, and ‘Addicted’ marks their first release of the year – have a listen via the video below.
Speaking about the track’s video and how it embodies the themes of the song, Julian has explained:
“In a world full of generic warehouse performance music videos it’s always fun to break up that monotony.
“We’re at a wild time where music is being pulled from the biggest platform in the world and artist control is at the forefront of discussion, especially when it comes to other people’s idea of what an artist should do or be, so this video feels especially timely.
“It’s exploring the darker side of how it can feel as an artist, going into these rooms with big execs where nothing is quite as it seems.
“Feeling trapped, either by yourself or others, in a dream that can feel like a nightmare, which has a lot of parallels to the lyrics of the song itself and its themes of blame and self-sabotage.”
Loveless are about to embark on an extended North American tour as special guests to recent Rock Sound 25 Icons Waterparks, with select headline shows also scheduled.
