He might be bringing his Kenergy to the 2024 Oscars.
Ryan Gosling gave a hilarious response when asked whether or not he’ll perform “I’m Just Ken” from his summer blockbuster smash “Barbie” at the Academy Awards in March.
“Well, I haven’t been invited,” Gosling, 43, stated during an interview with W Magazine. “But thanks for pointing that out.”
“And I wasn’t thinking about it until now,” he jokingly added. “Now it’s all I’m gonna think about.”
His co-star Margot Robbie then burst into laughter.
“Do you get paid for that?” the “Notebook” actor asked, prompting Robbie, 33, to respond: “I doubt it.”
“What do you get paid to sing at the Oscars?” Gosling asked. “They pick you up at least, right? You don’t have to self-drive?”
Robbie, who also served as one of the film’s producers, joked that the awards show would pay for the ride home.
“You get a free ride,” the “Wolf of Wall Street” actress giggled. “Uber home, maybe?”
Before moving on to a different topic, the “La La Land” actor told both Robbie and Lynn Hirschberg, who was conducting the interview, that he was “still thinking about it.”
The song, which was written and produced by Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson, is one of three songs from “Barbie” that were submitted for awards consideration. The other two are “Dance the Night” by Ronson, Wyatt, Dua Lipa and Caroline Ailin and “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas.
Nominations for the prestigious show are currently slated to be announced on Jan. 23. Typically, all of the nominated songs are performed in the course of the ceremony.
All three songs also recently scored a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song — Motion Picture.
In the film — which raked in nearly $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office — the song is placed at the climax, during which the Kens of Barbieland, led by Gosling and Simu Liu, 34, go to war against each other.
According to the film’s director Greta Gerwig, the song-and-dance sequence almost didn’t happen.
“It just said in the script, ‘And then it becomes a dream ballet and they work it out through dance,’” Gerwig, 40, said during the BFI London Film Festival in October 2023, per Variety.
Gerwig was then hauled into several “big meetings” with studio executives to argue for the inclusion of the sequence.
“I was like, ‘Everything in me needs this,’” Gerwig said. “They were like, ‘What do you even mean? What is a dream ballet?’ And I was like, ‘A dream ballet? Where do I begin!’”
She likened the scene to one that was featured in the Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds-led film “Singin’ in the Rain.”
“I was like, ‘If people could follow that in ‘Singin’ in the Rain,’ I think we’ll be fine. I think people will know what this is.’”
Recently, Gosling released a Christmas-themed version of the song called “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie)” and an accompanying music video.
The Golden Globes are set to air on Jan. 7 on CBS and Paramount+.
