Rising star Sydney Sweeney is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time this weekend, and based on the teasers for the episodes, isn’t shying away from two of her most popular assets.
In a clip posted to Saturday Night Live‘s social media pages, Sweeney — alongside musical guest Kacey Musgraves and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner — said that, perhaps contrary to popular belief, a lot of her fans are “weirdly” men, which prompted Musgraves to say, “Hm, I wonder why?”
Sweeney’s stint as SNL host comes a week after comedian Shane Gillis hosted the famed sketch program, likely making it the second straight week that the show will make more headlines than usual.
Sweeney hosting Saturday Night Live comes at a busy time for the up-and-coming A-list actress, as it follows the release of Madame Web and precedes the release of Immaculate, which hits theaters on March 22.
While Madame Web was both a financial bomb and widely ridiculed ($80 million at the global box office and a 13% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes), the film she starred in before that, December 2023’s Anyone But You, has been a massive success as it grossed over $200 million at the global box office.
In addition to Sweeney in the starring role (she also produced the film), Immaculate stars Simona Tabasco (from season two of HBO’s The White Lotus), Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, and Giorgio Colangeli.
Sweeney also has films such as Eden, Echo Valley, and Barbarella in the works.
