Kristen Stewart became a major star in blockbuster like films like the series of Twilight films that put here career into orbit as Bella Swan. There were other big major studio movies such as Snow White and the Huntsman, but Stewart, who started in movies at a very young age — notably opposite Jodie Foster in Panic Room — has been too smart to get trapped in box office movies.

Notably, she started doing a number of critically acclaimed performances in independent projects with top directors, including Still Alice, The Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper and Seberg. Like the latter Jean Seberg story, Stewart has taken on another iconic but tragic, figure in director Pablo Larraín’s Spencer, where for playing a very different and unique interpretation of Princess Diana she has finally landed her first Best Actress Oscar nomination.

Stewart visits my Deadline video series The Actor’s Side today and talks about all of it, including the fame, the rewards, the landmines of stardom, her ambition to direct, the key advice Foster gave her, and so much more.

To get the “actor’s side” of things from Kristen Stewart, watch our conversation in the video above.
