The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has a massive fan base worldwide. Movies like Avengers: Endgame have crossed a billion dollars at the global box office. But Kristen Stewart is the latest Hollywood celebrity to criticize superhero films and calls them a “nightmare.” Scroll below for all the details!
Don’t we all want our favorite Hollywood stars to make their Marvel debut? Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney with Madame Web, and Emilia Clarke with Secret Invasion are the latest celebrities who’ve joined the MCU.
Kristen Stewart on joining Marvel Cinematic Universe
Twilight actress Kristen Stewart was asked about joining the Marvel films in the new future. She shared on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, “I will likely never do a Marvel movie… it sounds like a f***ing nightmare, actually. You would have to put so much money and so much trust into one person … and it doesn’t happen. And so therefore, what ends up happening is this algorithmic, weird experience where you can’t feel personal at all about it. So likely not.”
But there’s a twist in the tale. Kristen Stewart may consider joining the superhero films if Greta Gerwig helms the project. As most know, Greta recently delivered the blockbuster Barbie. The fantasy comedy starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead was hailed for its new approach towards feminism.
Other Hollywood celebrities who have criticized the MCU
This isn’t the first time a Hollywood actor has openly criticized Marvel films. Previously, Jennifer Aniston had slammed the superhero films for diminishing the “quality” of movies.
The Wolf Of The Wall Street director Martin Scorsese refused to even qualify the MCU films as “cinema” but instead compared them to “theme parks.”
Jodie Foster, Emily Blunt, and Jason Statham were some of the other actors who previously dissed the films starring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and others.
Kristen Stewart upcoming films
On the professional front, Kristen Stewart will be next seen in the post-apocalyptic romance film Love Me. She also has Love Lies Bleeding, a romantic thriller that has been partially released in theatres. Both films premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
