On Friday, Kamala Harris visited Puerto Rico to emphasize the Biden administration’s support for the island’s recovery from recent natural disasters and economic problems.

While the vice president visited several places in the island nation, her stop at the Goyoco community center in the Santurce neighborhood of San Juan led to a drama she definitely wasn’t expecting.

At the location, Puerto Rican protesters greeted her with disapproval, expressing it through Spanish songs with pointed lyrics directed at her.

“We want to know, Kamala, what did you come here for? We want to know what you think of the colony,” the protestors chorused together, adding: “Long live Free Palestine and Haiti, too.”

However, Harris seemed not to catch on as she was seen happily clapping and smiling until an aide alerted her. She then promptly put on a stern expression and lowered her hands.

Kamala Harris Slammed For Clapping Along To A Puerto Rican Protest Song

In the wake of a video of the incident going viral, social media users have heaped more criticism on Harris, slamming her for failing to grasp the intent of the Puerto Rican protesters.

One person called her the “dumbest person on the planet,” while another called her an “absolute loser.”

A third person trolled, “How did she get there i [really[don’t know? How did she manage to pass her law exams this is even a greater mystery to me?!?”

Another user said, “How low can the office of vice President go? Never has there ever been one who’s so incompetent as Kamala Harris, America’s vice president, aka ‘The Laughing Stock!’”

Someone else commented, “Yeah, that video has been floating around for a couple of days now. Pretty d— funny. She’s just clueless, isn’t she?”

One more person remarked, “What an embarrassment she is to America.   The song is mocking her and she is too stupid to realize they are downing her and write an entire song downing her.”

The visit was Harris’ first time in Puerto Rico since she became vice president of the U.S. in 2018. Before heading to the community center where the trolling incident happened, the V.P. dropped by a residential home outside San Juan that was damaged during the deadly 2017 Hurricane Maria.

Through a federal program, the home has since been revamped and outfitted with solar panels and water tanks.

“I see we are making a difference. There is still more work to do,” Harris said while giving a speech on the lawn of the residence, per AP News. “We are ambitious. Yes, we are impatient.”

She also mentioned that Biden’s administration has donated approximately $3 billion in reliable energy sources, such as rooftop solar panels and mega generators, to minimize the daily outages in the power grids following the hurricane.

Harris recently paid a visit to the site of the 2018 Parkland shooting in Florida, which left 17 people dead, including students and staff members.

During her visit, she spoke about how measures must be taken to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again, adding that shootings are the leading cause of death for young people.

“We must be willing to have the courage to say that on every level, whether you talk about changing laws or changing practices and protocols, that we must do better,” Harris added, per Independent.

Harris also took the opportunity to unveil a $750 million grant program to support states with “red flag laws.” These laws empower law enforcement, with judicial approval, to temporarily confiscate firearms from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.

The Vice President also urged states lacking red flag laws to emulate those that do, echoing a sentiment strongly advocated by the Biden administration.

The Vice President Was Slammed For Flaunting ‘Job Growth’ Chart

Recently, Harris came under fire for sharing a “job growth” chart achieved under the Biden administration.

On the chart, Joe Biden’s administration boasted the highest number of jobs, eliciting praise from Harris, who highlighted the country’s economic progress in the caption.

She wrote: “Our nation is beating economic forecasts and breaking records for job growth.”

However, in the comments, not everyone was pleased with the statistics. One user wrote, “Everyone has at least two jobs these days. Can we work on raising the quality of life? Like better pay, affordable access to healthcare, more vacation days, and way longer paid maternal leave. People are not mentally okay.”

Another said, “Right because no one was working during the big ‘C,’ and now people have to get 2-3 part-time jobs just to make ends meet. Stop trying to take credit for half-truths and blatant lies.”
