But things turned upside down after the leading actress lost a defamation suit against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. A massive demand for boycotts eventually led to unfortunate negativity around the film.

Jason Momoa starrer was made on a staggering budget of $205 million. Rumors suggest there were multiple reshoots after axing Amber’s role as Mera, which led to an unexpected surge in budget.
However, James Wan refuted these claims and said Heard was never meant to lead the second installment.
Box Office Collection
Despite multiple other releases during Christmas, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom maintained a strong hold at the box office. Of course, the collections were expected to match its predecessor, but there was a fear that it would break even.
Eventually, Aquaman 2 turned out to be a plus affair at the worldwide box office, garnering a total of $434.38 million, which is about 112% higher than its budget.
