One recent job-seeker is currently facing an onslaught of online criticism for her interview attire, revealing that she was asked to go home and change.

Earlier this week, TikTok content creator Tyreshia, known as @mtyreshiadaily, shared a unique take on her outfit of the day.

“I cannot believe the recruiter asked me to change my interview clothes then come back,” she captioned her video.

“I look very neat and professional, so no!” she added, alongside the hashtags #jobhunting, #fyp, and #viral.

In the opening clip, Tyreshia is standing facing the camera with her arms crossed.

She’s wearing a white t-shirt, a sheer white cardigan, and loose-fitting black shorts.

“The Recruiter REJECTED Me Because Of This,” she wrote over the video, adding a red exclamation point emoji.

Tyreshia then shares her story, telling viewers that she got “dress-coded” during a job interview.

She revealed that right before her interview was rescheduled, a “lady,” referring to her recruiter, asked if she would like to go home, change her outfit, and come back.

“I was like, no?” she said, furrowing her brow and waving her arms.

Tyreshia then walks closer to the camera, zooming in on her puzzled expression.

I went to a job interview and totally forgot to wear my trousers – it’s like a nightmare come true

She also takes some time to show off her outfit from different angles, including her side and back view.

Despite sharing the 22-second clip with less than 800 followers, her video quickly went viral.

As of Friday afternoon, Tyreshia’s video has over 2.7 million views, 71,000+ likes, and 32,000 comments.

It’s also been shared nearly 50,000 times amongst TikTok’s user base.

Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on her outfit, with most of them taking the recruiter’s side.

“Wisdom is chasing you but you are fast,” one user commented, amassing nearly 60,000 likes on his post.

“Hey so shorts to an interview is insane,” another viewer shared, with over 95,000 users liking her comment.

“Offering to reschedule was very generous of them,” another user wrote, with nearly 40,000 viewers in agreement.

“I’m not understanding what you’re not understanding,” another viewer shared, with nearly 130,000 “heart” reactions.

Some viewers even suggested that Tyreshia skip the rescheduled interview altogether.

“Don’t waste those folks time tomorrow,” one user advised.

“HR here….the fact they allowed you to change and have a redo says a lot. It would have been an immediate no here,” one office worker shared.

Other viewers claimed there seemed to be a generational gap in what constitutes acceptable interview attire.

“Schools REALLY need to bring back career day and career prep classes,” one user stressed.

“I’ve officially hit the age where I’m sayin’ this generation is wild,” one user wrote, alongside a tired face emoji.

“Gawd I feel like a boomer… BUT, when and why would shorts (of any length) be appropriate for a job interview?” another viewer questioned.

“This isn’t very demure at all,” another user commented, getting in on the recent trend created by Jools Lebron, also known as @joolieannie.

Tyreshia has yet to comment on the criticism, or provide any updates on how her rescheduled job interview went – and what she wore to her second interview

Other viewers were even more shocked to discover that the interview was held in-person, and not over a video chat, like Zoom.

“You wore this in person? And not on Zoom?” one user questioned.

“Oh see I thought you were on Zoom sis,” one viewer commented, adding several crying laughing emojis.

“I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this, I really hope you’ve applied for other jobs,” another viewer wrote.

“I’m glad we’re all on the same page in this comment section,” another user chimed in.

It was difficult to find any viewers who supported her interview attire, though some did share words of encouragement.

“You look great…for a walk in the park,” one user wrote.

“I hope round 2 goes better for you!” another viewer added.

“I need this type of delusion in my life,” another user wrote.

Tyreshia has not responded to any of the comments.

She also has yet to share any updates on how her rescheduled interview went – and more importantly, what she wore to it.
