The American Monster film directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is finally making the Good Friday collection worth it with a box office number way better than the expected range of the opening collection. The film continues the Monsterverse success with an opening of almost 40% higher than the expected range in India.

It was expected that despite Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu’s trio bringing a heist film with a single-digit opening, Godzilla would still register an opening of over 10 crore.

However, defying all the predictions, the sequel to Godzilla vs Kong that was released in 2021 and the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise has earned 14.5 crore at the Indian box office in all languages, almost 40% higher than the expected range.

Breakdown of Languages

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire registered a collection of around 6.5 crore in English, 4 crore in Hindi, 1.5 crore in Telugu, and 2.5 crore in Tamil. The film also registered a whopping 250 crore collection overseas.

Global Box Office Earning

The film is generating a great buzz in terms of overseas collections as well. Deadline reports that the international box office generated a $35 million collection overseas (including previews) with a strong opening day in China, a collection of $13.4 million on day 1. The trade is currently forecasting a $108.2M total run in its lifetime in China.

Global Weekend Projection

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is projecting a $51 million to $75 million global box office over the weekend.

India Records

The Monsterverse film has opened much better than the new releases Aadujeevitham and Crew. In fact, the film beats Oppenheimer‘s 14 crore and Fast X’s 12 crore, all released last year. The film is expected to grow like a beast over the weekend in India.
