In a radio interview, Castell opened up about her wellness tips. She revealed a lot of what she currently eats, and what her diet is like. “It consists of reducing carbohydrates,” she says. “You have to eat more protein and then be satisfied.” “A low-carb diet restricts the amount of carbohydrates you eat. Carbohydrates are grouped as simple natural (lactose in milk and fructose in fruit), simple refined (table sugar), complex natural (whole grains or beans) and complex refined (white flour),” says the Mayo Clinic.

In her interview, Castell revealed that she eats a lot of veggies. However, she is very selective about which ones she eats that most. “What you eat the most are vegetables, especially vegetables from above the ground,” she says.  “The ones from below the ground, no, because they have a lot of sugar, they have more starch.” “As far as nutrition goes, cauliflower is high in vitamin C and a good source of folate. It’s fat free and cholesterol free and also is low in sodium content. Additionally, cauliflower contains only 25 calories in 1/6 of a medium head. This portion size also contains 2 grams of dietary fiber and only 5 grams of carbohydrate,” says the Mayo Clinic.

Castell isn’t afraid of eating healthy fats in her diet. She revealed some of her favorite options in her radio interview. “You can eat a lot of cheese and a lot of eggs,” she explains. “This diet is fueled by fat.” “For your health, aim for an overall pattern of eating that meets your nutritional needs and helps you maintain a healthy weight,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Choose a variety of nutrient-dense foods from all the food groups. Remember to stay below the limits for added sugars, saturated fat and sodium. Every bite is an opportunity to make a healthy choice.”

She captioned the reel, “I love taking care of myself. Here’s a healthy breakfast or snack idea. An orange, kiwi, apple and pineapple smoothie.” “Avoid added sugars. Stay away from sugars in your smoothie, including fruit juice,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Use water or milk as your base. Skim milk, unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened soy milk or water are all good options for the liquid base of your smoothie. Add a protein source. Include milk, plain yogurt or plain kefir to your smoothie to help increase satiety or feeling full.”
