While what seems like the whole world is rooting for the divorce of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, one who apparently isn’t is Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
After Affleck first dated Lopez from 2002 to 2004, he then began a relationship with Garner, whom he co-starred with in the infamous 2003 film Daredevil, before the pair married in 2005.
Following Affleck and Garner’s divorce in 2018, the pair remained friendly due to their children while Affleck began dating different women — most notably Ana de Armas — before landing with Lopez again in 2021.
Lopez and Affleck got married in July 2022 and now appear headed for divorce just about two years later.
Garner, however, is reportedly encouraging Affleck to work on his relationship because she wants him to be happy. There’s also another layer to Garner’s apparent desire for Affleck to stay married as Daily Mail reports she has concerns about him relapsing.
“Jennifer Garner is encouraging Ben to work on his marriage to Jen. She fully supports their relationship and wants nothing more than for him to be happy,” an alleged source told US Weekly.
Given some of the quotes from insiders regarding Affleck’s current mental and emotional state, however, it’s difficult to imagine that staying with Lopez will make him happy, with one source saying that if you could get a marriage voided on the grounds of insanity, “he would.”
Garner is reportedly playing both sides of the relationship as Daily Mail also claimed that Lopez has been confiding in her about the state of her marriage.
Despite Garner apparently being willing to extend advice, a wedding invite is another story, as a report from earlier this month indicated she wouldn’t be inviting Affleck, the father of her children, to her wedding because of the attention Lopez would bring.
