A BEAUTY influencer who was told she had a “pizza face” by bullies has proved them wrong by becoming an expert in all things skincare and make-up.
Now, Courtney Jones gives advice and recommends beauty products to over one million people.
The 21-year-old has suffered with cystic acne since she was aged 15 and felt so low that she didn’t want to leave the house at times.
Cruel bullies told her that she had a “pizza face” and told her to buy some face wash to get rid of her spots.
But getting rid of cystic acne isn’t that simple – with Sheffield-based Courtney trying countless products and remedies before finally being prescribed Accutane.
Accutane is a final-straw medicine for severe acne that works by reducing the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin, thus helping your cells renew quicker.
Courtney has candidly shared her journey with the vitamin A-based drug on her social media channels.
She is now at the end of her treatment and her skin is glowing.
Alongside prescriptive help, the beauty influencer has a number of products that she swears by.
These are Cerave’s £13 Blemish Control Cleanser and £11.50 Moisturising Lotion , Acnecide’s £9.99 5% Gel Benzoyl Peroxide and Skin Proud’s £16.95 Serious Shade SPF50+ sun cream.
When questioned about whether wearing make-up contributes to her acne, Courtney was quick to share how others suffering with spots can get made up without triggering a larger breakout.
“When you’ve got spots and you want to wear make-up, all you’ve got to do is make sure you have the right make-up for you,” she said in a TikTok video.
“There’s all different kinds of make-up out there.
“Some of them might make your spots worse because that’s not the one for you – you’ve got to make sure you find the right products for you.
“And at the end of the day, make sure you take it off properly because if there’s still make-up on that you’ve not washed off properly, that might cause you to get more spots.
“So yeah, I will keep on wearing make-up.
“I don’t wear make-up everyday but I will keep putting it on because I have actually found the right ones for me and they won’t break me out.”
Courtney’s candid videos have seen her earn a whopping one million followers on TikTok, with many supporting her acne journey from the early days.
One fan called her “the definition of a glow up” under a video showing her skin transformation over the last year.
