One savvy influencer has shared how he gets his outdoor space in full bloom using leftovers that would normally end up in the bin.
Though it sounds too good to be true, this TikTok star swears by this tip.

Only known as @creative_explained on the app, the influencer has gained an impressive 6.3 million followers on the app by testing life hacks.
Having made hundreds of videos over his career, there is one gardening trick that has stayed with him through.
According to the content creator, you can make your very own plant food just using a few leftovers you probably already have in your home.
In fact, all you’ll need is eggshells, an old tea bag, a pinch of cinnamon and a little bit of patience.
Rather than throwing these away, the hacks expert will crush up the leftover eggshells and keep them in a small pot.
He will then add the contents of one used tea bag and ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon before allowing this to soak in water for 24 hours.
Once this is done, he will strain the mix with a coffee filter and use a dropper to apply the remaining liquid to his seedlings to help growth.
This nifty tip works because lime-loving plants, including brassicas, will use the calcium contained in the eggshells.
Meanwhile, teabags have tannic acid which is used by plants to increase nitrogen production – and in turn, this also helps them grow.
While using leftovers in the garden is nothing new, fans loved the nifty tip with over 210,000 liking the viral video.
In the comments, his followers couldn’t get enough of the tip either.
One wrote: “I have the same plant about the same size. I’m gonna try this.”
“I used this exact recipe for all my marinara plants. They FLOURISHED!” added another TikTok user.
For those who aren’t green-fingered and are still struggling to get their plants to grow, don’t despair as there are plenty of leftovers you can use in your garden.
Rather than sending your banana peels, the kitchen scraps can be added to your compost bin and can even be used instead of chemical fertilizers.

Packed with potassium, the leftover peel can be used when growing pumpkins, squash and other fruit trees – as it helps them produce more flowers.
Coffee grounds can also help to get your garden in full bloom and is ideal for acid-loving plants that love alkaline soil.
These include African violets, blueberries, hydrangeas, lavender and even honeysuckle – just don’t forget to dilute them with some water before throwing them on the soil.
Even citrus peels can be saved from the rubbish bin, as these grow seedlings in if you don’t have any pots around.
