Bleu Enlists Nicki Minaj for New Single “Love in the Way”

Bleu receives an assist from Nicki Minaj on his new single “Love in the Way.”

Earlier this week, Nicki shared a snippet of the collab with the 28-year-old Alabama artist, which features a sample of the Sam Tompkins song “Whole.” Tompkins fanned out over hearing Minaj rapping over his own music—and got a congrats from Onika in the process.

Prior to the snippet’s release, there was some curiosity regarding what would come out of the two rappers’ first-ever collaboration. Bleu described “Love in the Way” as a “beautiful song” of the variety that’s “gonna live forever.”

As the single drew near on Thursday night, Nicki posted some advice. “For the full experience, you can only listen to the song w/headphones on~ so be prepared,” she tweeted.

Last week Nicki dropped her stacked “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix)” featuring JT of City Girls, BIA, Katie Got Bandz, Akbar V, and Maliibu Miitch—all of whom were thrilled at the opportunity to collab.

Following 30-year-old PnB Rock’s senseless murder on Sept. 12, Bleu and Nicki—both collaborators of his—were among the many members of the hip-hop community to pay tribute.

Bleu shared a photo of them together, writing, “Until we meet again brother why the good die so young!”

Nicki’s response was more complicated, drawing some criticism the Queen rapper forcefully pushed back against.
