Anette is a big proponent of fueling up on lean proteins. For breakfast she eats egg whites with vegetables and a cup of coffee followed by a mid-morning snack: A slice of turkey ham with a piece of fruit or panela cheese with a piece of fruit. For lunch she enjoys vegetable soup with grilled chicken, meat, or fish. For her mid-afternoon snack, a piece of panela cheese with a piece of fruit. For dinner she will eat Mexican tuna (tuna, onion, tomato, cilantro, lemon), without mayonnaise followed by a piece of cheese three hours later.

Anette understands the importance of hydration. “For liquids I can drink water, all of it, also a drink called Clight, Diet Coke, iced tea and nothing else,” she told La Botana. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.
