We all have first date horror stories. But few would be able to outdo this dating TikToker’s experience. The creator, who posts under the handle @datingtoido, shares dating advice with her viewers. And sometimes, this involves a cautionary tale.
Over a six-part storytime, the TikToker shared one of the worst first dates she’s ever had. Her series has amassed hundreds of thousands of views.
The creator starts by explaining how she was set up by a friend who insisted she found her a “perfect guy” who just so happened to be an ex-NHL player. There was, however, a little distance between the date and @datingtoido. Namely, she lived in LA, and he lived in San Diego. Nonetheless, he decided to drive down. She also notes he was a bit younger than her.
Red Flag On Red Flag
While they were meant to be at the restaurant at 5pm, the man kept delaying the time, before asking to go directly to her house. This was the first red flag, she notes. The TikToker says she relented and let him drive there (though he ended up parking five blocks away).
She then saw the man in person. While she admits he was good-looking, she couldn’t help but notice his wrinkled outfit and, worse of all, his dirty feet on full show in flip-flops.
After they arrived at the restaurant, she says he ordered seven things, while the TikToker ordered one.
The conversation soon turned to roommates. And it was here that the TikToker discovered something bizarre: He had seven roommates, and all eight of them lived in a four-bedroom house. Then the food arrived. At that moment, the TikToker complains the man popped his front teeth out and placed them on her napkin (he was a hockey player after all). She says he also continued to order additional food.
At this point, the TikToker says she was “over it.” But the next surprise was the worst of all. When the bill came, she says he pushed it toward her, saying he would put $30 toward it.
Debrief On The ‘Bad Date’
As she drove him home, the creator says he asked to go to her house. She says she panicked and made the excuse that she was going to a bachelorette party. Needless to say, when she called up her friend who set her up, she wasn’t happy. She told viewers that she was “dejected” that her friend could even think this was the perfect guy for her.
This makes the friend’s response all the more surprising—the date said he had the best time and wanted to go for another.
According to @datingtoido, the point of the story is the dissonance between how men and women think. She couldn’t believe that he felt the date went well when she had such a horrible time.
And to this day, she says she still gets “flashbacks” of the teeth.
If nothing else, commenters were deeply amused by the whole situation. “Thank you for this,” one wrote. “I really needed it today because I’ve never laughed so hard in my life over the teeth.”
Another added, “I thought you were going to complain because he used your napkin. I just about choked when you said he put his teeth on it.”
While a third remarked, “You can’t make this stuff up!”
The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to BroBible’s request for comment via TikTok comment.
