OVER the years Vernon Kay has enjoyed an incredible career, and is now one of the UK’s leading TV and radio stars.
In August 2024, the top presenter was given the coveted job of hosting the BBC’s Team GB Homecoming ceremony.
Who is Vernon Kay?
Vernon Charles Kay was born in Bolton on April 28, 1974.
He is an English television presenter, radio DJ and former model.
Vernon started his career as a model before switching to TV, hosting T4 on Channel 4 in 2000.
He stands at a massive 6 foot 4 inches tall.
Since 2023, Vernon has hosted Radio 2’s mid-morning show after taking over from Ken Bruce.
Vernon also finished third in I’m A Celebrity in 2020.
He has also presented his own Radio 1 show between 2004 and 2012.
From 2015 until 2017 he fronted a show on Radio X.
In November 2023, Vernon ran an ultramarathon for Children In Need, covering 115 miles.
How long has Vernon Kaye been married to Tess Daly?
Vernon met Tess Daly in 2001 when he was hosting T4.
The pair then married in 2003 in Horwich, near Vernon’s native Bolton.
They even presented BBC singing competition Just The Two Of Us together from 2006 to 2007.
Tess is of course famous for hosting Strictly Come Dancing.
How many children do Vernon Kaye have together?
The couple have two children together.
Their first child, Phoebe, was born in 2004.
The pair then welcomed Amber in 2009.
When is Vernon Kaye hosting the Team GB homecoming ceremony?
Team GB‘s Homecoming by The National Lottery will celebrate Team GB’s return from the Paris Olympics.
This special event will take place on August 17, 2024 at the AO Arena, Manchester.
The ceremony will feature performances from iconic UK artists including Jess Glynne and Rag’n’Bone Man.
Vernon will host the event alongside Emma Wills.
Speaking about the event, Vernon said: “I have seen first-hand how amazingly dedicated and talented our athletes are.
“This Homecoming event will be a moment to recognise the achievements of these incredible athletes. I can’t wait to celebrate together!”
Emma added: “There’s a fantastic buzz during the Olympics, and Team GB’s Homecoming event will be the perfect way to celebrate and welcome home our phenomenal athletes.

Vernon’s first big presenting role was on the popular weekend Channel 4 show T4, aimed at teenagers and young people.
The star was a co-presenter on the series for five years between 2000 and 2005.
He worked with the likes of June Sarpong and Simon Amstell.
All Star Family Fortunes
Vernon has since moved on to more prime time TV shows.
When ITV rebooted Family Fortunes, he was given the plum job of hosting it.
The show sees families compete for top prizes, while guessing survey questions.

Vernon was also at the helm of ITV’s Sunday night show, Splash!.
Joined by Tom Daley and Gabby Logan, the show only ran for two seasons.
The series saw celebrities compete in diving competitions.
